The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission, Ms. Aisha Garba, has expressed delight at the notable progress recorded by Governor Umo Eno in the Akwa Ibom State education sector.
She has reaffirmed UBEC’s readiness to strengthen its partnership with Akwa Ibom State in order to deepen the positive strides already made in the sector.
Ms Garba spoke while on a tour of the Christ the King Model Primary School, Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo and other elementary schools in the state.
The UBEC Boss was in the State for a 3-day retreat for UBEC management staff, held at Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, from 7th to 10th May, 2025.
She and her team were led on the tour by the Commissioner for Education Prof. Ubong Umoh and the Executive Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Anietie Etuk,
She lauded the performance of pupils, the commitment of educators, and the serene and conducive learning environment fostered in the state.
The retreat featured a series of strategic deliberations and interactive sessions focused on developing sustainable solutions for the future of basic education in Nigeria.
The retreat, which brought together top executives and stakeholders in basic education, was themed: “Repositioning UBEC for Sustainable Basic Education Delivery in Nigeria.”
The Education Commissioner and the SUBEB Chairman, took time to explain the concept of model primary schools in Akwa Ibom, and the passion of the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno who has demonstrated commitment towards advancing the standard of education in both primary and secondary schools in the State.
The UBEC delegation were later led to the ARISE Park, Dominic Utuk Way, where they also commended the Governor for his efforts in transforming an ecologically challenging environment into a world class resort.
