Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to delivering quality education across Akwa Ibom State, stating that foundational learning remains a critical pillar of the ARISE Agenda.

He made the declaration on Thursday, July 24 during the official commissioning of the newly constructed ARISE Model Primary School, Ikot Isong, in Etinan Local Government Area (LGA).

Represented by his Political Adviser, Dr. Godwin Ntukudeh, the Governor stated that the ultra-modern school represents a significant stride towards improving the standard of basic education in rural communities, charging the teachers to produce world-class students from the school.

He noted that the facility is a symbol of hope and a vital investment in the future of children in the area.

According to Governor Eno, “by now, I believe that it is clear to everyone that we have brought light to rural communities to discourage rural-urban migration. Today we have ensured the transformation of primary schools to model centres of learning centres to provide quality education to our children, this is our commitment.

“Today, under this administration you can see, feel and touch qualitative education. We will continue to execute the full content of the ARISE agenda with your support. Not only have we built model schools and health centres, we are constructing road and here in Etinan, the Ibom Paint is back and here to stay”.

“You can hear from the commissioner for Education, the quality of the facilities in this school. I appeal to the teachers to be dedicated teaching, to concentrate and deliver world-class products out of the students. I therefore enjoin to the Chairman to collaborate with the Ministry of Internal Security to ensure that all the facilities here are secured”, he added.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Chairman of Etinan LGA, Hon. Uko Umoh, expressed deep appreciation to the Governor for the numerous impactful projects executed in the area, particularly commending the quality and standard of the newly constructed Model Primary School and reaffirmed the unwavering support of Etinan people.

He described the Model Primary School as a shining example of the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and announced the donation of 20,000 branded exercise books and school uniforms to pupils, as a contribution towards boosting educational standards in the local government.

Providing an overview of the project, the Commissioner for Education, Professor Ubong Umoh, highlighted that the model school is equipped with a range of modern facilities, including an ICT laboratory, fully furnished classrooms, solar-powered electricity, a well-equipped sick bay, an assembly hall, a standard library, and residential quarters for staff.

He further noted that the school also features Early Child Care Development Classes (ECCDC), a playground, and a security post designed to monitor and regulate the movement of pupils in and out of the school premises.

In his goodwill message, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Akwa Ibom State, Uko Umoh, SAN, expressed gratitude to Governor Umo Eno for enhancing the learning environment for children. He described the Model School as a valuable asset that not only promotes education but also holds potential as a destination for educational tourism.

On his part, the Member representing Etinan State Constituency, Hon. Uduak Ekpoufot, applauded the Governor’s bold commitment to primary education. He remarked that the ARISE Model School in Ikot Isong will significantly impact and transform the lives of the pupils who benefit from its facilities.

Similarly, the Chapter Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Israel Tommy; the Dean of the College of Honorary Special Advisers to the Governor, Isantim Kenneth Okon; and Otuekong Sunny Jackson all commended Governor Umo Eno for bringing the dividends of democracy to Etinan.

They praised his inclusive leadership and developmental strides, particularly in the education sector.
