The administration of President Bola Tinubu will continue to provide good governance to Nigerians, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, has assured.
Idris said this at the opening of the ‘Federal Government’s South-South Milestone Under President Tinubu’s Administration’ with the theme: “Midterm report of President Tinubu’s Administration” on Thursday in Uyo.
He said the event was to enlighten citizens on the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration.
Idris, represented by Mrs Christiana Inyang, the Head of the Federal Information Centre (FIC) in the State, said that the President Tinubu Administration had provided a cancer treatment facility, radiotherapy machines, and IVF facilities at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) and Mbribit Itam, respectively.
He said that the facilities represented significant breakthroughs for the South-South geopolitical zone.
The Minister also said that the Renewed Hope Infrastructure initiative which focused on regional development projects, included the 65 km Akwa Ibom Section of Lagos to Calabar Highway – a three-lane carriageway inaugurated on April 15 by the Works Minister, Sen. David Umahi.
According to Idris, the federal government is committed to the well-being of the South-South.
He said that the President Tinubu-led administration had several critical sectors that are receiving the long-overdue attention from Education, Agriculture, and Healthcare.
“The South-South is no longer an afterthought, but it is a priority now.
“In the area of Agriculture, the establishment of the cassava, bio-ethanol project in Akwa Ibom is a bold step towards food security and job creation.
“This project holds promising opportunities not only for our farmers but also for the entire agro-processing value chain that many Akwa Ibomites will benefit from directly or indirectly,” Idris said.
He said that the federal government, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, provided relief materials and palliatives to the people of Akwa Ibom including ‘Boundless Support for Persons with Disabilities’.
“As a people known for our industry, enterprise, and resilience, let us take full advantage of these initiatives.
“Let us support every effort that brings development closer to our communities; let us also remain united in purpose and voice as we continue to advocate for more inclusiveness and equitable distribution of national projects,” he said.
He reassured on the federal government’s commitment to the well-being of the South-South region, adding that the Tinubu-led administration would create an enabling environment for all Nigerians to thrive beyond current challenges.
“We will rise from these challenges stronger and more resilient than ever before,” Idris said.
