New Finance and Appropriation Committee Chairman Emerges in CRHA

A new Finance and Appropriation Committee Chairman has been appointed in the Cross River State House of Assembly (CRHA) following the removal of Hon Cyril James Omini (Yakurr 1).

The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Elvert Ayambem appointed  the Member representing Akamkpa 1 State Constituency, Hon Okon Nyong Owuna as the new Chairman.

Hon. Omini had chaired the Finance and Appropriation Commitee since the inauguration of the 10th Assembly.

Speaker Ayambem who announced the appointment during plenary session on Thursday, stated that the appointment will further strengthen the tenth Assembly in it’s Legislative functions.

In an acceptance speech, Hon Owuna expressed gratitude to God, the Speaker and his colleagues for the appointment which he described as “surprising”.

He promised to work hard in order to justify the confidence reposed on him by the Speaker and Members.

Hon Owuna has served the Assembly as the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Communication and Technology and Public Affairs as well as Chairman, House Committee on Commerce, Industry,  Public Private Partnership and Privatization.

He has also served the State in several  other capacities including Commissioner for Agriculture.

Similarly,  Speaker Ayambem has  announced the appointment of the Deputy Speaker, Hon Sylvester Agabi (Obudu ) as Chairman of an ad-hoc  House  Committee on Investigation.

The Investigation  Committee also has, Hon Kingsley Ntui (Etung) as Vice Chairman while  Rt Hon Davies Etta (Abi ) is to serve as Secretary. L

Other Members of the Commitee are, Hon Odey Brian Wonah (Yala 1) Hon Martins Achadu (Yala 2), Rt Hon Francis .  Bassey Asuquo (House Leader and Member representing Odukpani) and Hon Ovat Dickson Agbor (Obubra 1).

The Speaker  urged all Committee Members to put in their best in the discharge of their duties while restating the 10th Assembly’s commitment to People friendly legislation in line with the” People’s First” Mantra of the present administration in the State.
