MTN, the sponsor of Nigeria’s largest schools’ championships, MTN CHAMPS, is set to reward the top four teams with cash prizes as Season 4 gets underway with the Athletics Classics in Calabar.
At the Press Conference held in Calabar on Wednesday, MTN’s Chief Marketing Officer, Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka, announced the cash rewards for the top four schools that will emerge as champions.
The winning team will receive ₦2,000,000, the second-place team ₦1,500,000, the third-place team ₦1,000,000, and the fourth-place team ₦500,000.
Additionally, MTN will award schools for exceptional attendance at the stadium, with the school with the highest attendance receiving ₦5,000,000.
This year’s edition marks the second time Calabar will host the annual event, reaffirming the city’s growing reputation as a hub for talent discovery and youth athletics development.
Over 1,000 athletes across 138 schools and teams are set to compete in the event scheduled to take place from March 5 to 7 at the U.J. Esuene Stadium.
