Lion Anthony Chukwu, the Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State on Non-Indigenes and Community Development, has called for more action on national security in a message of congratulations to the organisers and participants of the 2026 Maris Annual Public Service Lecture in Asaba.

The event is scheduled to be held at the Unity Hall, Delta State Government House, on April 1, 2026, at Noon.

Chukwu’s solidarity message on Friday ahead of Wednesday’s event, also commended the choice of “National Security” as the central theme for the 2026 event.

He described the focus as both exceptionally timely and indispensable for Nigeria’s sustainable development.

”Security remains the bedrock upon which any meaningful national progress is built; I applaud the consistency of the Maris platform in fostering this critical high-level discourse.

“Providing a forum for seasoned experts and stakeholders to proffer solutions to our collective challenges is a vital service to our nation,” Chukwu stated.

He expressed high regard for the calibre of participants, specifically commending the inclusion of distinguished personalities like the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, as Distinguished Guest of Honour and Guest of Honour respectfully.

He noted that their involvement is evidence that significant strides will be made toward proffering solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges during the lecture.

Lion Chukwu expressed optimism that the vast experience and insights of the key players will contribute significantly to the national conversation on security.

”It is my sincere hope that the deliberations at this year’s lecture will move beyond rhetoric and yield actionable, strategic insights necessary to bolster national security and promote lasting prosperity for all Nigerians,” he added.

He wished the organisers, the Maris Trust Council, and all participants a productive and highly successful event, adding, “My brother and friend, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, thank you for the zeal to keep this lecture going every year in Delta State.”
