Poised to revive and reposition sports development in Akwa Ibom State, the Ministry of Sports, has launched a special 30 minutes weekly radio show, Kick-Off Akwa Ibom.
The programme aimed to keep sports-loving residents informed about its activities and programmes scheduled to air on Inspiration 105.9 FM from
Kick-Off Akwa Ibom, is scheduled to air every Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Inspiration 105.9 FM, with a repeat edition at 6:30 pm every Saturday.
Kick-Off Akwa Ibom, is a sports radio programme packaged, produced, and sponsored by the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Sports in line with the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno. The initiative is aimed at discovering, nurturing, and promoting local sports talents to global relevance.
The live programme will focus on the latest developments in grassroots sports, outstanding achievements and exploits of Akwa Ibom sportsmen and women, as well as activities and programmes of the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Sports.
The show will feature segments such as Sports News, Interviews, Star of the Week, Tip Bits, and Statistics of the Week. It will be anchored by sensational sports journalist and presenter Mfon Patrick, popularly known as Center Referee.
According to the Executive Producer of the programme and Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, the radio show is designed to better inform and sensitise sports inclined youth of the state about the numerous opportunities and benefits available within the sports sector, the efforts of the government to support them and how they can tap into the lucrative global sports industry.
The Commissioner added that “national and foreign sport news will not be smuggled into the programme, as It will be Akwa Ibom sports contents through and through”.
