Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has eulogized the late Rev. Friday Willie Umoren for his dedicated service to God and humanity.

Governor Eno made the remarks at the funeral service in honour of the late Rev. Umoren conducted by United Evangelical Church at Ikot Akpa Idem, Ukanafun Local Government Area.

The Governor expressed gratitude to God for His grace upon the deceased which enabled him to live a life of vision, focus, and impact.

He recalled the few occasions he met with the late man of God, saying he always left him with a remarkable impression of a very neat and decent man, and admonished Christians, and members of the family in particular, to emulate him.

Governor Eno also recalled, with appreciation, the support and prayers he received from the deceased especially prior to the 2023 elections saying, “He was always praying for me, giving me very strong assurance of victory in the Governorship race, and, it truly came to pass.

“So, we came here to honour and celebrate the memory of this great man. A man who lived truly for God. Serving God indeed pays handsomely. A unique testimony is here for us to see and learn from it.

“This is a man whom I believe has said like the Apostle Paul, ‘I have fought a good fight; and I have finished my course; I have kept the faith; and henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness.’ We strongly believe our departed father has received his crown already.”

He urged the family of the late nonagenarian to be comforted by the fact that their father lived a life of service and glory to God who is the greatest rewarder of good deeds.

Earlier in his message titled: “How to honour God” drawn from Ecclesiastes 6:1-3, the Chairman of Conference of United Evangelical Church, Rev. Daniel Anjorin, noted that the best way to honour God is to seek only Him, and turn away from wickedness and evil ways.

Rev. Anjorin admonished Christians to realize that if they must honour God, they must reflect His character; embrace God for their salvation and life after now; serve God and humanity to attract His divine blessings.

On the Governor’s entourage were the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; members of the State Executive Council; political stalwarts; captains of industry; members of the clergy; and Government functionaries.
