Eastern Naval Command Golf Tournament Ends in Calabar… Achukwu Emerges Champion

The Flag Officer Commanding the Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral C D Okehie has been commended for his vision to use the game of golf to build fitness and spirit of unity among all the personnel under his command through the big competition which attracted golfers across the nation.

Making the commendation during the presentation of prizes ceremony, the Special Guest of Honour, Vice Admiral D J Ezeoba also gave kudos to the captain and the members of the Calabar Golf Club for having a wonderful course which he said rank among the best in the country.

While appealing to golfers using the course to help in keeping it clean by not dropping used water containers, the Special Guest of Honour used the occasion to congratulate the overall winner of the big championship, Tuesday Achukwu for the feat.

Earlier, The Flag Officer Commanding the Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral C D Okehie

had thanked the special guest of honour, vice admiral Ezeoba for adding colours to the big event

through his physical presence.

He described vice admiral Ezeoba as a great man and his mentor and boss adding that through his councelling and encouragement he was able to play the thrilling game of golf.

The FOC also lauded the captain and the members of the Calabar golf club for their support to

make the big event a memorable one.

At the end of the championship which covered 18 holes, the assistant comptroller of customs,

Tuesday Amola Achukwu sent shock Waves down the spines of other highly rated golfers when

he returned a nett score of 60 to emerge the champion .

In category one, Noah john garnered 80 gross to emerge the winner while Jackson Ofem

became the runner-up with 81 gross.

Captain Buka scored 72 nett to emerge the winner in category two while the duo of Joshua

Dagudu and Ayo Bami became the runner-up and 1st runner-up with a score of 74 and 75 nett

respectively.

Category 3 winner was the captain of Calabar golf club, Engr. Bassey Nkposong who recorded

71 nett while Rev. John came 2nd with 72 nett, Raymond Ovatt was 3rd with 73 nett and Orok-Oyo Eneobong was 4th with 74 nett.

Nearest to the pin winner was the Chairman Board of Trustees of the Calabar Golf Club, P K Bello.

In the ladies category, Edisua Bassey garnered 71 nett to emerge the champion while Eme Ita Ironbar and Brenda Essien were placed 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Eja Dons Esege was the winner in the veterans category with a score of 69 nett while Mike Mutoni came 2nd with 69 nett.

Veterans ladies winner was Babara Brown.

Super Veterans men winner was Andy Onyong while Asuquo Eyo came 2nd.

Longest drive men winner was Noah John while Eme Ita became the ladies longest drive winner.
