Cross River State has been rated as the state with the lowest level of accidents in Zone 6 of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), comprising Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Rivers States.

The Zonal Commander of the FRSC, Zone 6 Command, Assistant Corps Marshall, Henry Benamaisia said this at weekend while interacting with some journalists in Calabar during his tour of the zone.

He said that “the crash level in Cross River State is low when compared to other states within the zone except in the Northern part of the state”.

The Zonal Commander stated that most of the crashes they recorded in the state that lead to fatality were from Yahe axis of the northern part of the state

Benamaisia who was in Calabar to inspect and encourage his men to always take their job serious no matter the challenges, maintaining that when the road is accident free the better for everybody.

On corrupt practices, he said the Commission has a zero tolerance for both officers and drivers especially those plying on the Nigerian roads.

He said the Commission has a surveillance mechanism put in place to go after corrupt officers if found guilty, while urging drivers to be careful always when ever they are on steering

He also appealed to drivers in the state to pickup their licenses from the issuing authorities which he said are too many waiting for claims.
