It is boom for Cross River farmers as the State Government has slashed the cost of coffee seedlings to ease their financial burden.
A statement from the Commissioner for Agriculture and Irrigation Development, Hon. Johnson Ebokpo Jnr; said the People’s First Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has approved “a massive subsidy on coffee seedlings; reducing the price from ₦1,000 to just ₦300 per seedling”.
This means the Cross River State Government is covering ₦700 per seedling, easing the financial burden on farmers and promoting coffee as a viable cash crop across the state, he said.
He therefore encouraged farmers in the state to “participate in the ongoing profiling exercise to benefit from this generous intervention”.
