Betta Edu Hails New APC State Exco, Backs Otu, Vows to Champion Tinubu’s Renewed Hope at Grassroots

Former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, has pledged to champion the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the grassroots following the emergence of new leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State.

Edu, in a statement issued on Tuesday, congratulated the newly elected State Working Committee of the party and expressed solidarity with Governor Bassey Otu, describing the congress as peaceful and strategic.

“I join our amiable Governor, His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, and all stakeholders of the APC in Cross River State to warmly welcome the new party leadership committed to unity, discipline and service,” she said.

The immediate APC National women leader and minister noted that under the leadership of President Tinubu, the Renewed Hope Agenda provides what she described as a practical roadmap for national transformation.

She  added  that it was the responsibility of party faithful to ensure that Federal Government policies and reforms reach communities across the 196 electoral wards in the state.

She said the emergence of Hon. Chris Sunny Etta as State Chairman was not merely a leadership change but a strategic alignment aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation and promoting inclusive and accountable governance.

According to her, Governor Otu’s People First Agenda has already prioritised infrastructure development, economic revitalisation and human capital growth, stressing that the new party leadership would consolidate on those gains.

“By strengthening party structures from the ward to the state level and mobilising our communities, we will ensure that no Cross Riverian is left behind and that the dividends of democracy are felt by all,” Edu stated.

She called on party members to work closely with the President and the governor in prioritising service delivery and community empowerment, adding that the party was targeting over 1.5 million votes in the next election through massive grassroots engagement.

Edu described the consensus and unity recorded during the congress as a testament to Governor Otu’s leadership qualities and commitment to inclusivity.

She congratulated the new state leadership, party faithful and residents of Cross River State on what she termed a new chapter of consolidation and progress.
