The Akwa Ibom State Football Association (AKSFA) has announced the commencement of registration for the 2nd Obong Isong Isang Memorial Academies Championship, which is open to football academies and clubs across the state.
According to a statement signed by the Secretary of the Association, Comrade Kufre Etukudo, registration officially began on Wednesday, 8th October 2025, and will last for two weeks, ending on Thursday, 24th October 2025.
Interested academies and clubs are expected to pay a registration fee of ₦30,000 (Thirty Thousand Naira only) into the Association’s account — Akwa Ibom State Football Association, FCMB, Account Number: 1327276018.
The draw ceremony for the championship is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 25th October 2025, while the tournament will kick off on Wednesday, 29th October 2025.
The FA emphasised that the competition is strictly open to football academies and clubs with U17 players who are duly affiliated with the Akwa Ibom State Football Association for the 2025/2026 football season.
The AKSFA statement urged all eligible teams to complete their registration within the stipulated period, warning that late entries will not be entertained.
The Obong Isong Isang Memorial Academies Championship was introduced to promote grassroots football development and honour the memory of Obong Isong Isang, a respected figure in the state’s football history.
It will be recalled that the first edition of the championship, held in 2024, featured 19 football academies from across the state. The tournament, played between 2nd and 9th November 2024, saw Heavens Race Academy defeat Greater Tomorrow Academy to emerge champions.
