The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has declared that its admission process has not commenced.
It noted that whatever information in the social media indicating that admission is now ongoing in the University is fake and “completely untrue”.
The University in a statement from the Public Relations Unlt on Tuesday said, “it has become imperative that we draw the attention of members of the University of Calabar community and the public to the noisome antics of unscrupulous racketeers as it pertains to admissions into the university of Calabar.
These recidivists according to the statement “are all over the social media space spreading fake admissions Cut-Off Marks for various programmes of the University and insinuating that the admission process into the university of Calabar is ongoing.
“For the avoidance of any doubt, admissions into Nigerian Universities do not commence until after the meeting of the National Policy on Admissions for the new session has been held. That meeting is yet to hold”.
The statement further stated that, “it is only after that Policy meeting that Institutional Cut-Off Marks for the various universities are set, and then that of various programmes can be announced”.
According to the University of Calabar Admission Officer, “the University has a defined procedure for announcing the commencement of the admission process: by calling for applications from suitably qualified candidates for the University’s Post-UTME Screening Exercise via advertorials on conventional channels.
“We wish to reiterate that the Management of the University of Calabar has zero tolerance for all forms of racketeering.
“To this end, all racketeering recidivists are strongly cautioned to desist from even contemplating the act before the long arms of the law catch up with them”.
