Members of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) have commended the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, for what they described as an impactful and visionary governance, with particular emphasis on his tourism initiatives.
The commendation came on Wednesday, when members of the professional body visited the Arise Palm Resort in Uyo.
The NMGS currently in Akwa Ibom state for their 61st Annual conference and Exhibition also praised the Governor’s commitment to diversifying the state’s economy through strategic investments.
In an interview with reporters at the Arise Park, they claimed their visit to Akwa Ibom also provided them opportunity to assess the government’s efforts at sustainable development and economic diversification, while also engaging stakeholders, mentoring young professionals and fostering collaboration that aligns natural resource management with long term growth objectives.
While applauding the Governor’s strides, the members of the Society urged the state government to continue engaging professionals in the mining and geosciences sector to ensure that ongoing and future projects meet international standards.
They expressed confidence that with sustained commitment, Akwa Ibom State would emerge as a leading hub for tourism and investment in Nigeria.
Mrs. Emaekop Eduok, an Assistant Chief Geologist, Ministry of Works, on behalf of the Society described the Arise Palm Resort as a project that reflects a forward thinking approach to harnessing natural and environmental assets for sustainable economic growth.
“I am proud of being an Akwa Ibomite, many people across the country is here and very excited about this development.
“Akwa Ibom is the Land of fulfillment not just promising because all the Governor has done is fulfilling all his promises and more.”
The members of the team were taken round the park, the playground and the sports facilities, the Guest apartments and lazy lake where they took a boat ride before relaxing on the floating bar, an experience most of them promised would be repeated once the park is fully opened.
