As Muslims in Nigeria and across the world celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, Dr. Betta Edu has congratulated the Ummah on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan, urging citizens to embrace unity and commit to national development.

In a statement issued on Friday to mark the annual celebration, Edu described Ramadan as a sacred period characterised by deep reflection, sacrifice, discipline, and devotion to Almighty Allah.

She noted that the holy month reinforces enduring values such as compassion, generosity, patience, and selflessness, which she said are critical not only to personal growth but also to nation-building.

“As Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, I urge all Nigerians to sustain the spirit of Ramadan by promoting peace, unity, and mutual respect in our communities,” she said.

Edu stressed that at a critical point in Nigeria’s development, citizens must place national interest above all divisions and work collectively with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to build a more inclusive, stable, and prosperous country.

She further called on the faithful to ensure that the lessons of Ramadan, love for humanity, care for the vulnerable, and commitment to justice-continue to guide their actions beyond the fasting period.

According to her, adherence to these values would help strengthen the nation’s social fabric and promote peaceful coexistence.

Edu also joined other Nigerians in praying that Almighty God accepts the fasts, prayers, and sacrifices of the faithful, while granting the country lasting peace, progress, and prosperity.

She expressed optimism for renewed strength and unity among Nigerians in the pursuit of a better future.

“Eid Mubarak to all Muslim faithful,” she added.
