Akpabio United FC secured a 1-0 victory over Ekiti United FC at the Uyo Township Stadium on Sunday, courtesy of Emmanuel Joseph’s decisive goal.
The winning team’s striker scored from a rebound in the second half after Ekiti United’s goalkeeper punched out a potent free kick. Emmanuel Joseph’s impressive performance earned him the Man of the Match accolade.
Following the win, Emmanuel Joseph attributed his success to God and expressed his commitment to scoring more goals to aid the team’s progress.
Akpabio United FC’s Coach, Kingsley Lawrence, hailed the victory as crucial and promised to lead his team to a positive result in their upcoming match against Abakaliki FC.
“It was not an easy match, but the three points are vital. We will approach our next game with Abakaliki with a winning strategy and prepare for a favorable outcome.”
Meanwhile, Ekiti United FC’s Coach, Bolarinwa Idris, commended the referee for a fair game and congratulated Akpabio United FC on their win.
Coach Idris also highlighted the challenges of lacking goal scorers in the Nigerian football league, stating, “We need to enhance our grassroots football and the Nigeria League One, (NLO), as this is where we can develop prolific goal scorers.”
