Army Adjusts Nationwide Educational Sponsorships Screening Dates for Fallen Soldiers’ Children

The Headquarters 13 Brigade Nigerian Army has announced a significant amendment to the upcoming Screening and Verification Exercise for children of deceased personnel.

The exercise, part of the Nigerian Army Education Sponsorship Scheme for the 2025/2026 Academic Session, will see a shift in its previously published schedule.

Originally planned to hold across geopolitical zones from February 2 to March 6, 2026, the exercise will now be conducted nationwide from February 9 to March 13, 2026.

The adjustment, according to the Brigade, is designed to ensure broader coordination and accessibility for all eligible beneficiaries.

A key change involves beneficiaries within the 82 Division area of responsibility, which includes Cross River State and formations like the 13 Brigade.

They will now undergo screening at the Headquarters 82 Division in Enugu from February 14 to 17, 2026, rather than at previously designated local formations.

Major Yemi Sokoya, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 13 Brigade, emphasized the rationale behind the changes.

“This adjustment is intended to ensure a seamless, transparent, and well-coordinated screening and verification process for all qualified beneficiaries,” Sokoya stated.

He urged all eligible individuals in Cross River State to take note and report to Enugu on the new stipulated dates.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its call for parents, guardians, and beneficiaries to come prepared.

All relevant original documents, as previously directed in earlier announcements, must be presented during the verification exercise to facilitate a smooth process.

In its statement, the Army reaffirmed the core purpose of the scheme, saying “The Nigerian Army, through 13 Brigade, remains resolute in its commitment to the welfare and educational advancement of the children of its fallen heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty,” the release noted, that the program’s stands as a support mechanism for soldiers’ families.

The affected families has been advised to be guided by the new official amendment schedule accordingly.
