The Non-Aligned Group, an association of a section of APC members in Enugu State has pleaded with President Bola Tinubu in his capacity as the National Leader of the Party to intervene immediately in the imminent fracas threatening the unity of the party in the state.

This is in the wake of the governor of Enugu’s declaration for the party, tomorrow in Enugu

The group’s leader, Casmir Chikwendu, in a press release on Monday said, “events in the last couple of weeks in the party in Enugu have been unnerving culminating in the reported dissolution of the state exco of the party and a counter report denying the dissolution”, he said.

“This portends danger ahead which, if not nipped in the bud, can cause severe damage not just to the party in the state but also the Renewed Hope agenda which the state is currently enjoying under the leadership of Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, the erstwhile Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology”, Chikwendu said

“Ordinarily, it is a good thing for the governor or anyone to join the party and but the way and manner the governor and his people are invading the party is upsetting the existing structure and is likely to have consequences”

“Dr. Peter Mbah, and indeed, all Enugu state politicians wishing to join the APC are welcome because the party is large enough to contain everyone but let him maintain the principles and values that he has met in the party”, he continued

“However, the way things are, the party may hit the rocks in Enugu if the President does not step in to reconcile the interests of both Governor Mbah and Chief Nnaji who are big political elephants in their own rights, and should their fight continue, then the party will suffer”, he said
